US Debit
When the ‘US Debit’ option is selected that will prompt for a Personal Identification Number (PIN) from the customer as the form of cardholder verification compared to a signature on the terminal or receipt. This selection uses money deposited with the card provider (bank). The transaction is routed from the retailer to the issuing card’s bank, live in real time via our gateway. To support PIN the payment device needs to be injected with Online PIN keys so the PIN can be encrypted and sent online for validation.
VISA Debit
The ‘Visa Debit’ option utilizes credit card network processing. Unlike US Debit, the Visa (or Mastercard) Debit option does not usually require a PIN and therefore will not prompt the cardholder for PIN entry. The transaction is instead authorized with a signature. This selection borrows money from the card issuer and is routed through Visa or Mastercard’s network.
Direct Debit
Similar to US Debit, direct debit is a form of payment which withdraws funds directly from a person's bank account, usually done for recurring payments. While we do not currently support direct debit with our solutions, we do support tokenized-payments.
