Overview
This article will be a quick start guide for the BBPOS Chipper. This will have information on pairing the device to your mobile device, as well as connecting the Chipper to iProcess. If using a custom mobile integration, you will want to follow the instructions for the specific integration.
Set up and Pairing Process
Step 1
To begin you will need to power on the BBPOS device and place the BBPOS into pairing mode. To do this you will need to push the power button on the device and hold it down. Once the device has entered pairing mode the LED indicator above the power button will begin flashing blue. This will indicate that the device has entered pairing mode.
If the device does not indicate a light at all or the LED is flashing red, please ensure the reader is fully charged with the micro USB cable provided with the reader.
Step 2
If you are using an iOS device to pair the PINpad, this step is not required. Please continue to Step 3.
If you are using an Android device to pair the device, the first thing you want to do is go to the Settings application and select the Bluetooth option. The reader serial number (usually begins with CHB) should appear as an available device.
You will see this serial number appear twice, one with a phone icon and another with a Bluetooth icon. You will want to select the option with the phone option. The LED on the reader will update to multi-color flashing, indicating that the device has been discovered and is ready to connect.
Step 3
Open the iProcess app and log in to your account. Once logged in, tap on the card icon in the top right-hand corner. The name of all readers paired with your mobile device will appear here as the serial number of the reader.
Step 4
Select the name of the reader you wish to configure with iProcess.
If this is the first time you are setting up the device, the reader may require a software update. If this is the case the LED will indicate an update by rapidly flashing blue and orange. This step can take up to 20 minutes to complete.
Once the reader is configured the LED will indicate the device is connected and in idle/standby mode with a steady blue light or with a flashing blue light every 5 seconds. Both of these LED statuses indicate the reader is ready to process transactions.
