Overview
We're introducing a new Commission Reporting Experience that consists of a new statement and a new report. This gives you a clearer view of your commission activity and more ways to access your data. Use this article to understand your new commission statement and report, and where to find key details like statement periods, balances, and payout timing.
This experience is rolling out in phases across our partner network.
What Is RCSS?
RCSS stands for Residual and Commission Statement Service. It provides you with an accurate statement that shows your commission accrual — what you've actually earned — so you can reconcile your numbers correctly.
RCSS is for all partners who receive commissions or residuals today. It's replacing the legacy Commission Report process with a newer, more reliable experience.
We're making these changes on our end — once the new experience is available for your account, you'll see the new statement and report it produces when you log in to the Partner Portal under Commissions. There's nothing you need to set up or configure yourself.
Why It Matters for Partners
The statement provides a clearer view of your commission activity, including:
- A monthly statement covering activity from the 15th through the 15th (UTC)
- Starting and ending balance information
- Ending balance that carries forward to the next monthly period
- A complete view of all balance changes
- Activity from external sources such as Bill Connect and Business Capital
- Automatic email delivery to the billing contact on file
- Access through gateway APIs
Previous Commissions Reports will remain available for historical periods.
No action is required. When you receive your first new statement, please review your starting balance along with the rest of your commission activity. If you have any questions or issues, please Submit a Ticket.
Prerequisites / Access Requirements
- Access to the Partner Portal under Commissions, with your username granted the "Access Commission Reports" permission
- A billing contact on file — this is who your new statement is delivered to automatically by email each statement period. To add or update a specific billing contact, follow the instructions in Managing Partner Account Information.
Don't Have the "Access Commission Reports" Permission?
- Log in to the Partner Portal.
- Go to Settings → Users.
- Click on the username that needs access.
- Look for the "Access Commission Reports" permission, check it off, and save the changes.
- If you don't have access to Settings, ask someone on your account who does to complete these steps for you.
How It Works
Statement Period
Your statement covers activity from the 15th through the 15th (UTC) — not a standard calendar month.
Note: From midnight UTC on the 15th, up to but not including midnight UTC on the 15th of the following month. So the periods work like this:
- August statement period: August 15 at 00:00:00 UTC → September 14 at 23:59:59 UTC
- September statement period: September 15 at 00:00:00 UTC → October 14 at 23:59:59 UTC
UTC is likely different from your local time zone. That means a transaction that happens very late on the 14th or very early on the 15th in your local time could land in a different statement period than you'd expect, depending on the time in UTC when it processed. If a transaction ever shows up in a period you didn't anticipate, this UTC cutoff is usually why — it's expected behavior, not an error.
What to Expect on Your First Statement
A few things only happen once, on your very first new statement — after that, your statements follow the regular monthly pattern.
- Starting balance. As part of this rollout, we completed a reconciliation of your prior commission activity. Your account begins with a starting balance, reflecting your commission activity from before your transition to the new reporting experience. This gives you a complete starting point so you can track future statement activity and balance changes with confidence, month over month.
- If a balance is owed to you, it will be included in your applicable payout cycle rather than issued separately.
Your Monthly Statement
Each month, your commission statement arrives by email with a PDF attached. The PDF lists every line item that generated your commissions for the statement period, including any adjustments — each shown with a description from Finance, the amount, and the date the adjustment was made. Because every line item is listed individually, the PDF can run to a number of pages, but it means you can scroll straight to a specific date if you have a question about a particular transaction. Applicable terms are included at the end of the PDF and in the email.
Your Commission Report Page
Once your account is migrated, your Commission Report page will show three tabs:
| Tab | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Commission Report | A detailed summary of commissions earned for the selected statement period, including a breakdown of merchant payments, affiliate payments, returns, and third-party commissions |
| Statements | Your monthly statement, showing starting balance, ending balance, all balance changes, and your finalized payout amount |
| Commission Report (Legacy) | Historical data from before your migration date |
If you're comparing your report to your actual deposit, use the Statements tab. The Commission Report tab shows what you earned, which can differ from what you were paid due to adjustments, delinquencies, or write-offs.
You can download the Commission Report as an Excel or CSV file.
The report is organized into six expandable groups:
| Group | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| 1. Affiliate Payments | Total commission for the affiliate. Expand to see sub-affiliates listed beneath your account. |
| 2. Merchant Payments | All merchants under the account, with per-merchant commission amounts grouped by processor. |
| 3. Affiliate Payment Return | Any returns at the affiliate level (quantity and amounts). |
| 4. Merchant Payment Return | Returns for individual merchants under the affiliate. |
| 5. Adjustments | Adjustments applied to commissions based on returns or other billing activity. |
| 6. Third-Party Commissions | Commissions from services like BillConnect and Business Capital. (New RCSS report only) |
Each group table includes pagination controls. Use the arrows at the bottom of each group to navigate through records.
Statement Statuses
| Status | What It Means | Downloadable? |
|---|---|---|
| Open | Statement period is still active; not yet closed | No |
| Pending Approval | Statement has closed and is awaiting final review of adjustments | No |
| Finalized | Statement has been fully processed and approved | Yes |
The "Download PDF" button appears once your statement's status is Finalized.
Common Questions
What activity is included in each payout, and when is it paid?
Payouts are based on commissionable activity from the 15th of one month through the 15th of the next, with payment typically issued between the 22nd and 25th.
For example, the June 22 payout covers the statement period from May 15 through June 15. Once the statement period closes on June 15, the statement moves into pending approval while Finance reviews it and applies any necessary balance adjustments. After the statement is approved, payment is issued between the 22nd and 25th.
Statement periods are based on midnight UTC. The start of the period is inclusive and the end is exclusive. For example, activity recorded exactly at midnight UTC on June 15 would be included in the next statement and paid in July.
If a payment fails, the unpaid balance carries over to the next statement.
Why don't I see this yet? This experience is rolling out in phases, so not every partner will see it at the same time. If your account hasn't been migrated yet, you'll continue to see the report you're used to today.
How do I know which version of the report I'm on? Log in to Partner Portal → Commissions. A single month dropdown with no tabs means you're still on the previous report. Three tabs means you've been migrated to the new experience.
What's changing from before? The new report offers a more detailed, static summary that includes:
- Balance information
- Commission earned
- Breakdown of merchant payments, affiliate payments, returns and third-party commissions
My report doesn't match what I was paid — what should I check? Check the Statements tab. The Commission Report shows what you earned, which can differ from your finalized payout due to adjustments, delinquencies, and write-offs.
Why can't I download my PDF statement? Your statement status must be Finalized before the download option appears.
What happens if my commission credit is returned (for example, due to a closed bank account)? It isn't automatically re-issued. Please resolve the account issue, then request re-submission by Submitting a Ticket.
