Overview
This article outlines information for onboarding Chase Paymentech Salem - EMV merchant accounts, and its specific boarding requirements. Use this processor for card-present (EMV) merchants on Chase's Salem/Stratus platform.
Prerequisites
Before boarding, confirm:
- The merchant has a Chase Paymentech Salem account set up for card-present processing.
- Chase has mapped the merchant's account to NMI's Presenter ID (PID).
- The merchant's device is supported on Chase Paymentech Salem - EMV (see Device Support below).
What to Request from Chase
Give Chase these details when the merchant requests their Salem setup:
- A card-present (EMV) setup on the Salem/Stratus platform
- Set to Terminal Based
- The merchant's Salem MID mapped to NMI's Presenter ID (PID). Chase has NMI's PID on file from certification.
- The make and model of the device the merchant will use
Settlement Method Supported
We support Chase Paymentech Salem - EMV as Terminal Capture (Terminal Based).
Note: If a merchant reports a missing deposit, submit a ticket right away so NMI can investigate with Chase.
Boarding Information
VAR Sheet Requirements
These are used to onboard the Processor Information section when Adding the Credit Card Processor:
- Select a Processing Platform - choose Chase Paymentech Salem - EMV
- Merchant Number (required) - the Salem-assigned MID from the VAR sheet. Up to 10 digits; it can be fewer.
Once boarding is complete, process a test transaction with each card brand and confirm that funds are depositing into the merchant's account before going live.
Choosing the Correct Salem Processor
The Select a Processing Platform dropdown shows two Chase Salem options. Their names are similar, so check carefully before you save:
| Processor option | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Chase Paymentech Salem | Card-not-present only (e-commerce, keyed, MOTO). Does not support EMV devices. |
| Chase Paymentech Salem - EMV | Card-present (EMV) devices, such as the BV1000GTV. Use this one for card-present merchants. |
If you do not see Chase Paymentech Salem - EMV in your processor list, do not board the merchant on Chase Paymentech Salem instead. Submit a ticket and ask NMI Support to make Chase Paymentech Salem - EMV available on your account.
If the merchant is boarded on Chase Paymentech Salem instead of Chase Paymentech Salem - EMV, card-present transactions may decline with error 3025.
Device Support
On Omni/ONE, the Madic BV1000GTV is currently the only supported device for Chase Paymentech Salem - EMV. It is not supported on Chase Paymentech Tampa - EMV.
