Overview
A current W-9 form on file is required before we can pay out your commissions. Without one, payouts can be delayed and some features, such as Business Capital, stay unavailable.
The Tax Information page in the Partner Portal gives you one place to upload your W-9. Once it's uploaded, our Finance team has what it needs to process your commission payouts.
Before You Start
- Partners and sub-affiliates each upload their own W-9 from their own Partner Portal account. You need administrative user access to that account to upload it
- Your W-9 must be a PDF file
- Use the current version of Form W-9, completed and signed
Upload Your W-9
- Log in to the Partner Portal
- Go to Settings, then select Tax Information in the General Settings section
- Drag and drop your W-9 PDF into the Upload New W9 Form box, or click the box to browse for the file
- Click Save Changes
- Check that the page shows W9 Form uploaded with the upload date and time
Upload a New W-9 Form
If your business details change, such as your legal name, address or Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), upload an updated W-9. Once a W-9 is on file, the Tax Information page shows W9 Form uploaded and the Uploaded on date and time of your current form.
- Go to Settings, then select Tax Information in the General Settings section
- Drag and drop your updated W-9 PDF into the Upload New W9 Form box, or click the box to browse for the file
- Click Save Changes
- Check that the Uploaded on date and time now show your new upload
The new W-9 replaces the one on file. You don't need to delete the old form first.
W-9 Reminder at Login
If your account doesn't have a W-9 on file, you'll see a reminder when you log in to the Partner Portal. You can dismiss the reminder and keep working. It will appear again at each login until a W-9 has been uploaded.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need to upload a W-9? A W-9 is a tax and compliance requirement. We need one on file before we can issue commission payouts.
Do I need a W-9 to use Business Capital? Yes. Business Capital can't be enabled until a W-9 has been uploaded to your account. Upload your W-9 from Settings > Tax Information first, then reach out to your account manager to request that Business Capital be enabled.
I don't see the Tax Information page. What should I do? The page is available to users with administrative access. If you don't have admin access, ask an administrator on your account to upload the W-9.
My upload failed. What should I check? Make sure the file is a PDF. Other file types, such as images or Word documents, aren't accepted.
How do I update my W-9? Follow the steps in Upload a New W-9 Form above. The new file replaces your previous one, and the Uploaded on date changes to the new upload.
